About me
Hi, I’m Laura. My journey to counselling began in 1995 whilst working in a corporate management role for Arcadia in London. Through this role which involved staff training and appraisals, I identified an interest in the more humanistic approach to supporting others and decided to retrain as a counsellor.
The path I took included exploring and studying different therapeutic theories before specialising in Transactional Analysis (TA). TA is used in short and longer term counselling and psychotherapy and a model which is helpful to enable clients to explore, understand and repair the root of their issues. The benefit for me of having experience of working with the Person Centred (PC) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) models is that they enable me to offer a more integrative way of working and adapt my approach to best support client needs.
My client case studies show examples of the therapeutic process which may help you.
Initially having worked for the NHS and an abuse and trauma centre in the South, I now work as a BACP Accredited individuals and couples counsellor, life coach and therapy supervisor in Harrogate with experience of over 16 years and 12,500 client hours. I enjoy being able to offer clients a new way of looking at their lives and situations, help them to better understand their behaviours and empower them to make positive changes.
I have been working with clients since 2009 and couples since 2012. I was awarded the BACP Accreditation in 2013 and BACP Senior Accreditation in 2016 and qualified as a Supervisor in 2018. Accreditation is a recognition by the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists) of having achieved a substantial level of training and experience.
My rest time includes walking, gardening and enjoying time with my pets.
