Looking at paintings can make us feel better; neuroscientists have discovered that looking at a beautiful artwork can increase the blood flow to the part of the brain associated with pleasure by as much as 10 per cent – the equivalent of gazing at a loved one.”
This is a fascinating statement by the National Gallery in an advert to promote their upcoming exhibition, ‘Conversation with paintings’.
