According to a recent article entitled, “Western diet causes depression” in the June 2015 edition of the ‘What Doctors Don’t tell You’ journal, it is now believed that our western diet when high in saturated fats and sugars may be responsible for depression and psychiatric disorders, in addition to the heart disease epidemic.
It is understood that when we eat such foods it changes the mix of gut bacteria, which then adversely affects the brain, in particular our cognitive ability, memory and increased anxiety.
It states in the article that the findings are at the early stages of development and understanding, however it makes you think!!
